Guidelines for Donating Materials

The ReCONNstruction Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that accepts tax-deductible donations of surplus and reuseable building supplies from businesses, manufacturers, and the general public. We try our best to keep the following donation list updated. However, the availability of warehouse space and fluctuating market conditions may influence our ability to accept every item on a continuing basis.

We inspect all materials and will decline unsatisfactory, broken, or hazardous items as necessary. Since our mission is to reuse these materials, they must be in saleable condition. We sometimes make exceptions to our donation policy. If you have something to donate that you think we can use, but is not on the list below, please call us. Likewise, if an item is exceptionally saleable, but you have no means to deliver it to us, we may arrange to pick it up.

General Acceptance Criteria
-If you wouldn't buy it, we probably don't want it!

1. All donated items must be in good reusable condition. We cannot accept items that are damaged render the item unuseable or unsafe, or that have missing parts. Materials should be clean with no peeling paint, serious dents, chips, or rust.

2. We cannot accept hazardous materials. This includes items containing PCB’s, asbestos, mercury, or and flammable compounds.

3. You are encouraged to bring items to our loading dock on the right side of our building.

Drop-offs are welcome during normal store hours: Tuesday thru Friday 9AM-6PM, Saturday from 9AM-4PM, or Sundays 12-4PM, (CLOSED ON MONDAYS). An appointment is not required, but we suggest that you submit a donation inquiry form prior to drop-off of large or questionable items or a large quantity of items requiring assistance. (If you have to drop off items at our loading dock in the middle of the night, without receiving a donation receipt, we probably don't want them! You know who you are...)

4. Requesting a pick up: A donation inquiry form is required to request a pick-up. Completing the form will insure that we have your your contact information, and accurate description of donated items to process your donation and provide your with a receipt for your tax-deductible donation. We do pick-up items, usually on Mondays and Tuesdays, or before 10AM during the week free of charge, however, we have to consider our cost of approximately $25 per hour for pick-up compared to the value of the merchandise being collected. In order to request a pick-up, please complete the donation inquiry form so we can schedule your pick-up with others.
